Program Description:

This scholarship program is not run through the International Academic Programs office at UMKC. Therefore the APPLY NOW button has been removed. If you wish to apply to this scholarship program, please see information below. 

Timeline:

All Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) Scholarships are due in early January for the following academic year. See website for exact date.

Applicants must meet general FEA scholarship eligibility requirements & preferences. Students interested in being considered for this annual scholarship should indicate this through their application forms.

General Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. (as of May 2015, applications from DACA students are welcome)
  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S. (graduate students are not eligible)
  • Must be applying for a study abroad program eligible for credit at the student’s educational institution
  • Must plan to study abroad for a minimum of 4 weeks (28 days) in country/countries
  • Is committed to supporting education abroad in his/her campus community through work with the FEA and his/her campus education abroad staff upon return

Preferences:

  • Academically rigorous and immersive study abroad program
  • Study of the host country language (if not English)
  • Non-traditional destination
  • Student demonstrates financial need
  • FEA strongly encourages students to apply who represent a group that is traditionally underrepresented in education abroad. Those groups include, but are not limited to:
    • Minority students
    • First-generation college students
    • Community college students
    • Students with disabilities
    • Student Athletes
    • Veterans
    • Returning learners

Dedicated Scholarships:

FEA is proud to offer dedicated scholarships to students who, in addition to meeting general eligibility requirements (above), also meet select demographic, regional, or semester criteria.  Applicants for the Athletes Abroad and Rainbow Scholarships self-identify for consideration through their application forms; applicants for regional, destination-specific, or summer scholarships are automatically considered for the corresponding dedicated scholarship(s).

  • ATHLETES ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP (for student athletes - club, intramural, or varsity - going on a credit granting study abroad program)
  • HILIARY ECHO DOUGLAS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (for study in Vietnam)
  • JANE GLUCKMANN & CAROL RAUSCH GO GLOBAL SCHOLARSHIP (for study in Mexico, Central America, South America, France or Germany)
  • RAINBOW SCHOLARSHIP (for deserving LGBTQI students who aim to participate in a high-quality, rigorous education abroad program).
